Currently, the best way to replace missing teeth is through dental implants. Dental implants act as the tooth’s root, and when a crown is placed on top of it, it will function, look and feel like a regular tooth. Dental implants are alternatives for dentures, bridges, and partials and have a 98% success rate. They produce long-lasting results with a high success rate. First, we determine if you have sufficient bone to support an implant. If you are a candidate, we will refer you to an oral surgeon who will be surgically placing the implant, which is a biocompatible titanium screw, into your jawbone. After 12 to 16 weeks of healing, you will return to the oral surgeon for an evaluation to make sure the implant is ready to have a crown be placed. After the oral surgeons give us the okay, we will have you come in for an impression that will be used to make the crown and customize the abutment needed to connect the implant to the crown. Two weeks later, you will return to have the abutment and crown fitted and inserted. In order to have your implants last a lifetime, we recommend brushing and flossing daily, maintaining a healthy diet, and visiting our office on a regular recall.
